What is it?
Reflexology involves using the fingers and thumbs to apply pressure to the feet or hands. When the body is subjected to illness, stress, injury or disease, the body becomes imbalanced and energy channels become blocked. This means the body struggles to function effectively.
There are points on the hands and feet which relate to certain organs, glands, and systems of the body and by stimulating these ‘reflex points’ the body is encouraged to re-balance , restoring its own natural equilibrium. Reflexology helps the body to heal itself naturally.
How Reflexology can help you…
Stress plays a big part in the modern day life. Stress is neither good nor bad. Some stressful situations can be exciting and fun. However stress does become a problem when it is ongoing and we fail to manage it. Stresses include job pressure, family/relationship problems, financial worries, bereavement, juggling work/life and illness. Ongoing stress over a period of time causes a build-up of toxins and waste accumulating in our muscles and joints. Our emotions emit chemical signals to different parts of our organs, glands and body systems. The body ceases to function effectively. We become susceptible to viruses and infection due to an impaired immune system. Our energy levels become lowered and we suffer with aches and pains. Reflexology promotes relaxation which reduces stress which in turn allows the body to re-balance and work much more effectively.

What to expect…
A consultation about your overall health and well-being is done either by visiting the online booking form page or by telephone. We will look at your areas of concern and discuss what you want to get out of your Reflexology treatment. This can be for general relaxation and stress management or for particular hormonal issues etc.
The treatment is done on a couch with the back lifted and supportive cushions placed for your comfort throughout the session. If you are wearing trousers, loose fitting trousers that can easily be rolled up to the knees are preferred. A moisturising cream with a bespoke blend of essential oils is massaged into the feet and lower legs to warm the muscles before the actual reflexology treatment begins. Breathing techniques and visualisation may also be used to help relax if you wish. You may or may not experience some areas of tenderness which is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. It is important to know that Reflexology is not a diagnostic tool. The tenderness may indicate areas of imbalance and can be discussed after or during the treatment. The Reflexology session concludes with massage to the feet and lower legs.
