What to expect…

Pregnancy Massage requires your Healthcare Providers consent prior to treatment. Once you are 13 weeks pregnant and you have gained consent, pregnancy massage will be suitable for you. If you have a history of past complications, then pregnancy massage can still be done provided only if your Healthcare provider has consented and only when you reach between 16 to 20 weeks (IVF 20 weeks). Following this, a thorough consultation will be carried out and your well-being will be monitored throughout your treatments.

During your treatment…

The treatment is done in a side lying position on a couch supported by pillows and bolsters to ensure comfort for yourself and baby is maintained throughout. Soothing massage movements to the back and shoulders help to relieve muscular tension, followed by working on lymphatic flow in the legs, calves and ankles to ease fluid retention and cramping. Some gentle acupressure techniques are applied to the feet which may help nausea associated with pregnancy. The arms and upper chest can hold tension and feel particularly tight as baby develops and grows. Massage movements to the upper body may help relieve tension and ease breathing difficulties that can be experienced during the later stages. The treatment is completed with a deeply relaxing face can scalp massage which is done lying on your back with supports under the right hip to prevent any discomfort to baby. Pillows are placed to support you and ensure your are comfortable. Once the treatment is completed, you will be helped off the couch and offered water.

Music can be played throughout your massage if you like. Please feel free to bring your own choice of music if preferred.
